What I Learned in Vegas

I just spent 5 nights in Las Vegas and here's what I've learned:
  • Roulette sucks
  • Blackjack is fun
  • Slots are a waste of time. You may as well take your wallet and throw it into Niagara Falls.
  • I like the Cafe Latte from Starbucks, but I like it much more when the company is paying for it.
  • In a pinch, the Fruit and Yogurt Parfait from McDonald's will do. But the yogurt with strawberries and granola from Starbucks is much better.
  • When guys turn around numerous times to check you out, guaranteed they're going to come and talk to you. Assess the situation and either cut and run or reapply your lipstick.
  • Always take a business card. Don't always offer one.
  • Head-on photos of a person's face are never very good. They just make you look really wide-faced, and accentuate a double chin you never knew you had. And probably don't. Turn your head a little - you'll look much better.
  • My cell phone snooze button is set for 5 minutes. That's way too short. I have to learn how to fix it.
  • The Miss America Pageant is the second-largest (i think) scholarship program in the world. Direct from the head judge of the 2005 pageant. He also directed the PBS kid's show Wishbone.
  • A little pomade, a flat iron, and some finishing spray, plus some eye makeup, really makes a difference. And it only takes about 15 minutes!
  • Once you see Celine Dion in concert, it's hard to get the songs out of your head. I'm not saying that's a good thing.
