Halloween is Over

The big pumpkin I bought for the front porch around Halloween is still out there, and it's beginning to rot. The top is starting to cave in and the stem is blackened and sinking. I haven't figured out the best way to get rid of it. I feel like putting it in a trash bag is kind of silly. Maybe it should go in the big leaf and branch pile in the back yard. It could compost itself and help the weeds grow bigger and stronger.
